RODNEY RUDE

Wed 22 Sep 2010

Rodney Rude is an Australian 'blue' stand-up comedian, poet and writer. He is infamous for his bawdy humour. He has released 12 albums and 5 videos throughout his long career, all of which are distributed by EMI Music Australia. To date, Rodney has sold well in excess of 2 million CDs videos and DVDs. Rodney has also been nominated for an ARIA award
for Best comedy Album for almost every album he has released.

He began his career in a band, singing and playing guitar. His habit of altering the lyrics of songs to amuse himself and his audience prompted him to become a comedian. In 1969, he left Australia to tour the World. Based in Ontario, he enjoyed a thriving career, touring throughout Canada, the USA and Israel.

Rodney Rude's comedy is sexual, insulting and explicit. As a result, despite some early television appearances his act is restricted to live performances.

Rude is just too funny. Ticket holders are well advised, wear an incontinence pad. "I grabbed them by their scrawny necks and wrung every last laugh out of them".

See Rude before he kicks the bucket.

CLARE BOWDITCH
& The New Slang

Modern Day Addiction Tour
with Glenn Richards (Augie March)

Thu 7th October

It's been a long time coming but Clare Bowditch's fourth studio album, Modern Day Addiction (out 13 August 2010), is very much worth the wait.

Modern Day Addiction is a contagious, satirical, yet heart-achingly tender album about humanity and "the eternal search for meaning" in a world of quick, delicious fixes. It stands as a companion on the journey for anyone who's ever asked the question "Surely there must be more?" followed by the statement "If so, great, I'll pop back for it once I've finished reading this article about absolute-rubbish-that-somehow-has-me-transfixed-to-the-screen...everyone SHUT UP! I'm concentrating..."

As Clare tells it (and who knows if she's telling the truth? Have you noticed how all her stories these days begin with "I woke up one morning"?)

"I woke up one morning and my heart was broken (just in the usual, everyday way) and all I wanted was a muffin, and a tall glass of combined coffee and Jagermeister, even though I was neither hungry, nor thirsty, which prompted the thought 'Hmm, how very interesting! Perhaps there's an album in here somewhere?' Thus began my extensive and exhaustive research-project into the topic of 'Everyday Addiction and the Human Condition'. Oh the reading list was endless, I tell you, I've barely left the local-newsagency since..."

In a most enjoyable and surprising way, Modern Day Addiction also aims to celebrate and question the modern world that produced it.

The only way to tell a story THIS BIG is to gather a "chops-heavy" band of eight around you (aka The New Slang) including three incredible back-up singers (Clare's oft-referred to Lady Garden), a small plane-full of instruments, sing-along lyric sheets, and hit the road. Hard.

Doors open at 8 pm.

Tickets $30 + bf presale available from the venue 5570 1322 or Ticketek or Oztix.

Butterfly Effect

GUTTERMOUTH

GOES ON VACATION TOUR
with Glenn Richards (Augie March)

Wed 27th October

Support Acts - to be announced.

Last time Guttermouth visited Australia, New Noise Agency took them to the major capital cities, alongside a visit to Toowoomba's Eidican festival. These depraved genius legends of California's Punk community sold out shows, shocked newcomers and far surpassed the expectations of faithful fans. All in a day's work for one of the hardest working - and hardest living - bands in their genre.

Not content with already seeing more of the country than most bands ever will, though, New Noise will be presenting the return of Guttermouth in 2010 - but not for any ordinary tour. Over an entire month, Guttermouth will be traveling to the far reaches of the Australian coast and major cities alike, as well as the band's first visit to South East Asia and their return to New Zealand. Whether a skeptic or a convert, an old fan or new,and wherever you happen to be, 2010 is your year to catch the best in the business at the top of their game.

What's more, the entire epic journey is being recorded by Brisbane filmmaker Rhys Day for a forthcoming documentary! With a reputation for antics that almost overtakes their musical legacy, New Noise are excited to show the world what it's like to spend a month on the road with Guttermouth - and while you might not be able to come along for the ride, the opportunity to see them in your town has the makings of some of the most chaotic fun you'll ever have, clothed or otherwise.

Doors open 8pm.

18 + only.
